Learn about the people behind Mantis

When you hire anyone, you can’t help but wonder what makes the people behind the brand tick. You can read our formal bios below, but read our story  to get a better sense of the people you’ll be working with (as that is what makes all the difference, no?)

Clare McDermott, Co-Founder & Head of Research

Clare McDermott is the co-founder and Chief Research Officer for Mantis Research. Prior to founding Mantis Research, Clare was the chief editor of CCO magazine, a print magazine for executive content marketers. She also ran a content marketing practice for consulting firms called SoloPortfolio.

Michele Linn, Co-Founder & Head of Strategy

Michele Linn is the co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer for Mantis Research.

Before Mantis Research, Michele worked for Content Marketing Institute. As the first employee,  she was instrumental in building the platform to more than 180,000 subscribers — and she worked on their annual research, which was a key to helping the company grow from start-up through acquisition.

She has published hundreds of articles on content marketing, speaks at industry events and consults with businesses. In 2015, she was named one of Folio's Top Women in Media (Corporate Visionary).

When not immersed in the marketing world, her goal is to be truly present and enjoy the simple pleasures of her life in Michigan with her husband and two daughters who are constantly inspiring her. @michelelinn

Bryan Spencer, Research Scientist

Bryan Spencer is a research scientist with over 25 years of experience in statistical methods, survey design and innovative data analysis. He began his career studying malaria in the Amazonian rainforest of Brazil, and has spent the last 15+ years at the Red Cross as a research scientist, studying the safety and availability of the blood supply. He consults with Mantis Research, vetting all survey design and data collection efforts, and supporting complex research initiatives.

Bryan has a PhD in epidemiology from Boston University’s School of Public Health, and Master’s degrees in international health and international relations from Yale University. Outside of work he loves experimenting with the charcoal arts--grilling, smoking and curing anything he can get his hands on. You won't find him on social media--which we think is part of his charm.
